LIBRARIANS AND READERS: YOU'RE INVITED TO THE FINAL ELEVENSIES BOOKFEAST

It's hard to believe the Elevensies are heading toward the end of our debut year! We want to send a special "thank you" to all of the librarians and readers who have supported us and helped get the word out about our books. One way that we've been doing that is through the Elevensies Bookfeast, a huge giveaway sweepstakes for librarians and readers who enjoy books for teens and tweens. (By popular request, we've also opened it up to English teachers who are building their classroom libraries, 'cause we know you need a little love, too!) If you fit that description, then you are invited to participate in our third and final Bookfeast -- your chance to win "All you can read" from a menu of 2011's tastiest debut YA and MG fiction.

What is it? The “Elevensies Book Feast” is a year-long giveaway that has been broken into three seasons - our fall/winter season has just launched! Each season has offered books by debut authors that librarians AND their readers can win. It’s about sharing fresh new fiction and supporting institutions and people who are big supporters of debut authors. Each season features a selection of books grouped into the following packages or “platters:”

Blue Plate Special: Contemporary and historical teen fiction that keeps it real
Fusion Fare: Feast on fantasy, paranormal and dystopian teen fiction
Middle Grade Sampler: Dig in to debuts just for tweens, ages 8-12

Complete details are available at www.2011bookfeast.com - but here are the highlights:

Librarians/teachers have the chance to win ALL of the books from an entire season. All they have to do is put up a poster encouraging their readers to participate in the sweepstakes. Readers who participate get to choose which package they'd like to win - all they have to do is send us an email. No purchase is necessary; the “BookFeast” is sponsored by the authors themselves and not endorsed by any publisher.

Just to tempt you a little more, here is the fall/winter poster. Look at all those tasty books!

So what are you waiting for? This is your last chance to win tons of incredible books by incredible debut authors. Enter the fall/winter Elevensies Bookfeast now!

2011 BookFeast news!

Some time ago, we announced the first winners of our Spring BookFeast giveaway. We thought you might like to have a sneak peek at the library that won.

Last week I had the pleasure of stopping by to deliver our Spring Elevensie Platter to Ellen McTyre, the Teen Services Librarian at the Mamaroneck Library in Marmaroneck, NY. The day was marked by another special event - the grand opening of their newly renovated library. After nearly 6 years of planning, and 2 years of construction, the new library opened its doors...just in time for us! Not only was there a buzz of excitement throughout the library, but we felt it most when my "assistant" (okay, so she's related to me) and I stopped by the Teen Space and got to meet Ellen in person.

Ellen McTyre, Teen Services Librarian at the Mamaroneck Library, with junior Elevensie member and 15 spring Elevensie titles

Not only were Ellen and her staff super-excited to receive our platter, but with their new digs, the teen and children's rooms will have plenty of shelf space to stock their brand-new 15 books from Elevensie authors. Congratulations Mamaroneck Library!

The good news is that you or your library still have two more chances to win Elevensie books this year! The next drawing takes place August 31.

To enter:

Libraries- Download a summer poster for free from here or request a full-length color version by emailing us at entries@2011.com with POSTER in subject line. Then email a picture of it  hanging up in your library again to entries@2011bookfeast.com, this time with LIBRARY in the subject line.

Readers - Decide which platter you want and email your choice to entires@2011bookfeast.com with READER in the subject line. Mention a library and they will get an extra entry in the library drawing.

That's it! One winning email will be picked at random in both categories.  See 2011BookFeast for full details. No purchase necessary. You must be 13 or older to participate.

Here's a list of the books you can win this summer (go here to see a poster version with full descriptions):

Elevensies Bookfeast: We Have Spring Winners!

On April 30, just a few days ago, we held the random drawing for winners of the Elevensies Bookfeast Spring packages of books. All winners have been notified and confirmed, so now we can announce them - yay!

First, our library winner - This lucky library gets ALL of the participating Spring titles: that's 15 books, from awesome middle grade novels to contemporary, paranormal, even historical YA. A big reason this library won was because the librarian got her teen and tween patrons to enter, too, and each one mentioned the library, which gave the library extra entries. A few other libraries did this as well, and if you're a librarian planning to enter the Summer or Fall Bookfeast drawings, you might want to consider that as a strategy. It sure paid of for... (drumroll please...) Mamaroneck Public Library District in  Mamaroneck, NY!

Congratulations!! Here's their photo of the Spring Bookfeast poster in the library.

So, who won the reader packages/platters, you're asking? Congratulations go to...

Katie Dixon - winner of the Middle Grade Sampler. She's a teacher looking to expand her classroom library, so we hope her students love the great titles that are coming their way.

Amy Oleson - winner of the Blue Plate Special package

Olivia Gonzalez - winner of the Fusion Fare package

If you didn't win this time around, don't fret. The Summer Bookfeast starts soon. We're finalizing the design and printing of the poster and minisite with plans to have everything up and running by mid-month. In the meantime, libraries can request a Summer poster by emailing entries@2011bookfeast.com - be sure to put the word POSTER in your subject line.

And readers, you can get a jump on your entries by emailing entries@2011bookfeast.com with the word READER in your subject line. Tell us which package you'd like to win. Here's what's on the menu for Summer:

Congrats to LovealwaysLiana for winning a signed copy of Illegal!
Illegal Cover
Illegal - an 11z debut!

I’ve whipped up some Migas… and maybe a few margaritas to celebrate the release of Illegal (Harper Collins, A Katherine Tegen Book). I am deeply grateful to the writer and reader community for their continued and generous support. Thank you for sharing this day with me.

A promise.
Quinceañera.
A promise that we would be together on my fifteenth birthday . . .

Instead, Nora is on a desperate journey far away from home. When her father leaves their beloved Mexico in search of work, Nora stays behind. She fights to make sense of her loss while living in poverty—waiting for her father's return and a better day. When the letters and money stop coming, Nora decides that she and her mother must look for him in Texas. After a frightening experience crossing the border, the two are all alone in a strange place. Now, Nora must find the strength to survive while aching for small comforts: friends, a new school, and her precious quinceañera.

Bettina Restrepo's gripping, deeply hopeful debut novel captures the challenges of one girl's unique yet universal immigrant experience.

Read the first fifty pages of Illegal!
